What British made August Offer?- To get Indian Cooperation in War Efforts from Germany – in fear of Nazi Occupation.
Date of Offer: 8th August 1940
Proposals of August Offer:
- Immediate expansion of the Viceroy’s Executive council by increasing the number of Indians.
- A representative constitutional making body to be set up after the war.
- A war advisory council would be set up consisting representative of British India and the Indian states.
Response of INC & Indian Freedom Fighters to August Offer -1940
The Muslim league rejected the offer on the Ground that Nothing short of Paritition will satisfy it. Its a significant step towards partition of India.
